Recent & Historical Background - Stephen D. Olmore & S. D. Olmore & Assoc., Inc.

Rutherford Day was a MENTOR, ASSOCIATE, AND DIRECTOR of SDO&ASC FOR 20 YEARS - now deceased; but his effect on the company still goes forward.  During Ruddy's tenure he made fundamental and lasting contributions to SDO&ASC and our way of thinking. He successfully developed and owned several gold and mining properties with private financing of Bobcat Properties, Inc.  in the Western U.S.  Ruddy mined, milled, and refined ~120,000 ounces of gold and extracted ~1,000,000 ounces of silver from the ATLANTA NEVADA Open-Pit Mine between 1972 and 1985; this was Bobcat Properties' core asset***.  A Harvard, Georgetown University, and George Washington University graduate he had a 20+ year General Law practice in Washington, D.C. and Virginia that handled a broad variety of litigation cases  inside the Beltway.  His home town was Washington and his family was involved with the Washington Post and affiliated with the Government Bureaucracy which ultimately led him into the gold business following his legal career. Although very much a product of big government, later in life he became more anti big government.

Ruddy had intimate knowledge of the Nation's Capital which gave him insight and contacts in Washington and  direct information on the future economic course of the Nation; $35/ounce gold was frozen by the Roosevelt Administration during the Great Depression; law prohibited American Citizens to hold significant amounts of gold other than a few grams of artisanal placer through five presidencies -  U.S. gold mines were shut down in the U.S. during WWII.  The 40-year U.S. government price control and circulation of gold in the public domain was ended by President Nixon in August of 1971. Gold prices were allowed to adjust in US$ to its true market value and price in order to pay Sovereign debts; the public was allowed to own gold. Ruddy parlayed his economic knowledge into several  mine acquisitions in the Western U.S., principally in Nevada, California, the Black Hills, and the Canadian Yukon.  As a lawyer - economist - miner Ruddy, was a relentless "Goldbug," with an encyclopedic knowledge and a large collection of data on gold which are now in  in SDO&ASC files.

It is generally viewed that "faith-based" currency printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing that now sent "out the door," in truckloads to Federal Reserve Banks and "elsewhere" as indicated in the News is awkward, and the incidents indicate how little control the public has over the Nation's  untraceable liquid assets are used once approved by Congress.

An opposite view to a gold backing for the US$ would be by central bankers and economists such as Paul Krugman (New York Times op ed 02-12-2013), who believe that in reality US$ is valued by the political stability and World leadership of the U.S. We at SDO&ASC agree with the political-backing concept as applied to nations and central bankers; on an individual basis. SDO&ASC believe it is advisable to hold gold and silver as tangible assets for an individual's protection for the uncertainties that may lie ahead. As we consider the present economic environment  we are pretty much in alignment with the American Institute of Economic Research. Today, is setting in, and gold, in my view the U.S. dollar is going to strengthen, making gold a marginal investment in the near future.

*** Steve Olmore following geology studies at USC in 1966 considered the Atlanta Mine as a subject for a Master's thesis at the University of Utah. However Steve's experience with  Southern California and Nevada field studies while at USC focused on structural geology and mineralogy. Practical Nevada and Great Basin fieldwork began with AMAX Exploration and Harry Olson, Ph.D., a mining geologist in Nevada in 1968; this experience weighed heavily on Steve's future as he was able to revisit many of the old mining camps of interest in the California-Nevada area that he had visited and explored with his parents as a child while living in Los Angeles. Later, with Bear Creek Mining Company working for Al Young in 1971 in Nevada,

explorations compounded Steve's experience. These formative jobs set the course of applied geologic investigations which later were pursued.  Steve operating a reconnaissance program near the Atlanta Mine with Homestake Mining Company in the Summer of 1985 when it was just shutting down and Homestake engaged in drilling investigations at the nearby Chief Mining district per Steve Olmore's recommendations. also made investigations of the nearby mining districts of Delamar and Pioche. These studies enhanced knowledge of "the Atlanta" considerably. SDO&ASC examined the property independently in 1995 with Jonathan Olmore (see Image), and then took the property to Echo Bay Mines (now Kinross Gold) for development. A significant finder's fee was received by SDO&ASC. These events began the association and relationship between Rutherford Day and S. D. Olmore that lasted until June of 2016 at the time of Rutherford's death.  SDO&ASC has been incorporating mining data of Bobcat Properties, Inc. into its data file on Western U.S. mineral deposits, geology, economics, and general mining law.
